Sport and Wellbeing at Volga Tech is implemented by a wide-ranging programme of sport for all levels, from beginners to elite athletes. These activities are supported by the University Sport and Recreation Complex Polytechnic with a swimming pool, a stadium with artificial turf, tennis courts, gyms, shooting range and other facilities available to all those who appreciate active and healthy lifestyle. Volga Tech annually hosts over 150 sports events engaging 10,000 people.
The University if particularly strong and successful in aerobics, basketball, volleyball, rugby, track and field, shooting sports, winter polyathlon.
Volga Tech offers over 20 sports clubs (on fee-paid and free of charge basis). These include mountaineering, table tennis, powerlifting, Vovinam martial arts, box, football, rock climbing, chess, swimming, cardio fitness, badminton, fitness yoga, hand-to-hand combat.
Volga Tech basketball teams take part in the Higher League of the Championship of Russia, track and field student athletes win prizes in the national and international competitions, rugby players trained in France and played as a part of the national team against British rugby players. The university weightlifters took the first places in Junior world championship, European and Russian Championships in powerlifting.
The University is proud of its “Extreme” aerobics team. The team won in European Championships, were second in World championship. In October 2017 the team came first in World Championship.
