Employees of the Center for Excellence Jean Monnet Volgatekha at the end of May took part in the international conference GISCA 2022 "Development of geospatial ecosystems", which is held annually in different countries of Central Asia and China.
At the same time, meetings were held with representatives of universities and organizations of Uzbekistan in order to develop existing ties and establish new contacts in the direction of "Forest and nature management". During the visits, issues of preparing new joint applications for scientific projects, organizing the mobility of undergraduates and participating in double degree programs were discussed.
At the conference, which was attended by well-known scientists from Europe, Russia and Asia, Associate Professor Oleg Vorobyov and Associate Professor Sergei Lezhnin presented scientific reports on the research topic of the team. The presentations were devoted to remote monitoring of forest fires and the state of forests in the Middle Volga region in the context of climate change. The scientific experience and publications of the university center in the field of remote sensing and monitoring of forest ecosystems aroused interest among specialists, with whom additional meetings were held on possible educational projects and joint research.
For three days, meetings were held with employees and students of the National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Engineers of Land Reclamation and Mechanization of Agriculture", the Research Institute of Forestry of Uzbekistan, the staff of the Uzbek Center for Data Processing of Inventory and Monitoring of Forests, as well as heads of departments of the Forestry Faculty of the Tashkent Agrarian university. The meetings showed mutual interest in the development of international relations between our universities, the organization of joint summer and winter schools, student mobility and joint scientific projects through bilateral relations between Russia and Uzbekistan. The bachelors of these universities showed interest in the master's programs of the Institute of Forestry and Nature Management of Volgatekh.
The trip can give a new impetus to the development of relations between our university and universities and organizations in Uzbekistan.
