Successful dissertation defence of Volgatech PhD student

Congratulations to the PhD student of the “Department of Silviculture and Forest Inventory of Volgatech” Ali Maher Said on the successful defence of his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences!

The defence took place on March 2, 2021 at a meeting of the Dissertation Council D 212.115.03 on the basis of the Volga State Technological University. Dissertation topic: "Monitoring of the vegetation cover of the Syrian Arab Republic by remote sensing methods and GIS technologies".

Scientific adviser: Kurbanov Eldar Alikramovich, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the “Department of Silviculture and Forest Inventory of Volgatech”.

Ali Maher Said is the first foreign postgraduate student in the history of the University, who completed full-time training at the Volgatech Higher Forestry School in the field of 06.03.02 "Silviculture, forestry, forest management and forest inventory", and defended himself in a dissertation council at the university. After returning to his hometown of Tartus in the Syrian Arab Republic, he will continue to develop the scientific direction of the “Center for Sustainable Forest Management and Remote Sensing” of Volgatech in the field of monitoring forest stands using satellite imagery at the Department of Ecology and Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tishri, Latakia Province.
