Location: Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El Republic, Russia.
Participants: up to 30 undergraduate students from Russian (Volgatech) and Chinese universities, majoring in Geography, Earth Sciences, Forestry, Environmental Studies (and relevant majors).
How to observe and measure the impact of climate change on the environment
How to employ advanced geoinformation systems and satellite images of Earth in forecasting and preventing natural disasters and planning land use
How to analyse the political context of the international climate dialogue

An ethnographic tour to Kozmodemyansk (Open-air Museum, workshops, interactive programme, picture gallery*

Volgatech (the host university) covers the following expenses:·
Invitations for the Russian entry visa for registered participants.
Accommodation in the student dormitory for the duration of the Summer School.
Transfer, excursions, guided tours included in the Summer School programme.
Academic classes/lectures delivered by the leading professors of Volgatech.
Wi-Fi at the university premises.
Certificate of attendance.
Participants cover the following expenses:
Travel expenses from China to Russia and back (depends on the air carrier).
Transfers within the Russian Federation not included in the programme (e.g., from Moscow or Kazan to Yoshkar-Ola) (flight Moscow-Kazan + bus Kazan-Yoshkar-Ola – 3000-5000 RUB or train Moscow –Yoshkar-Ola 1700 RUB)
Food and meals at cafes, souvenirs, internet and communication costs outside the university premises. (a meal in a café would cost 300-500 RUB)

Yoshkar-Ola is the capital city of Mari El, Russia. Yoshkar-Ola means “red city” in Mari and is located 850 kms to the east of Moscow and 140 km to the north-west of Kazan.
Yoshkar-Ola is a relatively small and cozy city. Our city offers everything: must-see attractions, must-do activities and must-experience routes and infrastructure for a comfortable life.
